Semarang (Antara) - Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo said illegal logging is still rampant in Central Java causing big losses to state forestry company Perhutani.

"This is part of evaluation for Perhutani to find a solution to the problem," Bibit said addressing a forestry day ceremony here on Tuesday.

He said by sending more police to serve as forest rangers is not a solution to the problem. Instead he suggested involvement of people living near forests in protecting forests from thieves. (*/M038)
