Despite the drop the fishery sector contributed 20.79 percent of the province's non-oil/non-gas exports which reached US$283.11 million, head of the Bali administration's public relations bureau I Ketut Teneng said here on Thursday.
He noted that the drop in the fishery product exports was closely related to fish supplies from fishermen and fishing companies which declined due to unfavorable sea weather.
Low demand in the export market due to global crisis also affected the province's fishery product exports, he said.
He said Japan was the main market for Balinese fishery products, particularly fresh and frozen tuna, buying almost 60 percent of the province's overall fishery exports.(IGT)
